Such as iPod / laptop low battery or magazine keeps being jostled by the other passengers. Or you're standing and can't really use the magazine or the laptop.

I think the airplane ride version would be pretty cool - I can think of a lot of problems I've had on flights recently - sick passengers - late flights - no seat room - dang.

Re: Third Webomatica Contest: Bad Video Game Ideas

Ok, here's my idea. It's actually a series of games based on mundane life events. I figured I'd call the series "Mundane Games"

"Transit Rider"
You control a hapless commuter who is riding (Muni) into work. Your commuter has a pleasure meter. Goal is to max out the pleasure meter on the ride to work before your final stop. This will be hard though, since by virtue of the commute the meter will be going down constantly. If your meter goes to zero, you become a commuter zombie. You can prevent your meter from going to zero by performing the following actions:
* staring at the hot chick on the train,
* grabbing a seat (but don't knock over granny doing it!)
* getting on without paying fare (adds pleasure cuz you will have money for lunch and the thrill factor)
* surreptitiously eating a donut that you carried on board (don't get caught!)

You lose pleasure points if (just a sampling):
* You are standing and squeezed in like a sardine
* Someone stinky sits next to you
* You stare too long at the hot chick and her boyfriend berates you
* Crazy person starts acting crazy (and you don't move to the other side of the train)

Variants or sequels to Transit Rider, using the same basic premise include:
"Coach Class Flyer"
"Checkout Stand Queueing"
"Elevator Rider"

Re: Third Webomatica Contest: Bad Video Game Ideas

I like the idea of Crooks and Grannies

it's a mugging simulator.

Re: Third Webomatica Contest: Bad Video Game Ideas

I prefer to think of it as 'Diggbait: The Game!' but either title would work equally fine :D

Re: Third Webomatica Contest: Bad Video Game Ideas

Ha ha - would that be called the "Digg Video Game"?

Re: Third Webomatica Contest: Bad Video Game Ideas

So ...
