  • I've seen this before on regional message boards long before MySpace was around... there's even a cellphone commercial alluding to the phenomina (one of those walkie talkie things).

    Great analogy with getting the Digg commenters to visit though.
  • I recently read about similar behavior resulting from a posting on craigslist. A disgruntled tenant, who was being evicted, left a message inviting people to the house and take what they wanted. The door was left unlocked and sure enough, the place was trashed. Even bathroom fixtures were taken.

    The prospect of someone posting a "looting message" and having an unruly mob show up on your doorstep is cause for concern, I'd say.
