That was an interesting read. The notion of Silicon Valley as a media powerhouse is an interesting one, especially if one expands the definition of "media".&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I started thinking about all the other media/entertainment companies based up here - gaming (EA), 3d animation (pixar), special fx (lucasfilm) in addition to the ones he outlined and you could make an even stronger case for the shift he's talking about.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I guess as he suggests, the technology moniker hawked by so many valley companies usually masks the close ties to the media space. It also  sure makes Apple's recent shedding of the "computer" portion of the company name a harbinger of things to come...&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And I'm not trying to get frothy on the valley or anything. I'm just fascinated by the continued "convergence" of technology and entertainment.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Dave</dc:creator><pubDate>Tue, 27 Feb 2007 18:09:04 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
